UN Universal Periodic Review (4th Cycle)

The UN Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is an important human rights monitoring process conducted by the United Nations Human Rights Council. It is crucial for us to submit a report to raise awareness and draw international attention to the human rights situation in Hong Kong.

As a Hong Kong overseas advocacy organisation, Lady Liberty HK, together with the Japan Hong Kong Democracy Alliance (JHKDA), submitted a report to the UPR on how arts and cultural freedom in Hong Kong has been eroded since 2018. This is an important opportunity for us to express our concerns and call for action to protect the human rights of Hongkongers.

The focus of Lady Liberty HK and JHKDA's report revolves around the constraints on artistic and cultural freedom, the suppression of expression, censorship and removal of books and artworks, as well as the impact on professionals and businesses. By submitting our report, we aim to advocate for the voices of Hong Kong and urge for improvements in human rights.
