On 28 September 2024, representatives of communities across Asia gathered outside the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo to protest the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The protest was organised by the Committee for the 76th Anniversary PRC Founding Day Protest Rally and brought together eleven participating organisations: the Tibetan community in Japan, Students for a Free Tibet Japan, the Japan Uyghur Association, Southern Mongolian Chulalongkorn, the World Mongolian Association, Stand with HK@JPN, Lady Liberty Hong Kong, the Democratic China Front, the Taiwanese Compatriots Association in Japan, Anti-Tyranny Ally Taiwan, and the Asian Liberal Democracy Solidarity Council.

The joint statement presented at the rally noted the contradiction of a government that marks the 80th anniversary of the defeat of fascism while simultaneously perpetuating invasion, colonial rule, and human rights suppression across its borders. Speakers called for the end of ethnic genocide — including forced internment camps, the elimination of minority-language education, and religious persecution — as well as the restoration of Hong Kong's freedom and autonomy, the abandonment of aggressive intentions toward Taiwan, and the withdrawal of territorial claims against neighbouring countries.

Ariya Tsewang Gyalpo (Office of Tibet, Japan), Lobsang Yangtso (International Tibetan Network, Asia), Tanaka Saut (Japan Uyghur Association), Orkhonod Daichin (Southern Mongolian Chulalongkorn), Haschor Darhad (World Mongolian Association), Alric Lee (Lady Liberty Hong Kong), Lo Kam-lung (Democratic China Front), and Doris Fan (Taiwanese Compatriots Association in Japan). A panel discussion on the human rights situation across each region and the actions required from the international community followed the speeches.
