高飛 (Fly High)

Kowloon Walled City stands out with its unique character, its layers of bricks and tiles weaving together the stories of old Hong Kong. When I think of symbols of Hong Kong, the Walled City immediately comes to mind.

Through ink and brush, I capture this legendary scene, using bold strokes and intricate textures. I intentionally avoid architectural precision to evoke a sense of crumbling walls and broken tiles, mirroring Hong Kong's current state.

The airplane in the painting symbolizes Hongkongers flying away, perhaps never to return. Yet, their sense of identity has only grown stronger. This piece is a wish for all Hongkongers scattered around the world—safe travels and the hope of meeting again someday.
