Although Lady Liberty was destroyed on Lion Rock, her mission had only just begun. The head of the statue made the journey from Hong Kong to Japan, and then from Japan to Germany — to meet more Hongkongers in the diaspora, and to tell more people around the world what happened in Hong Kong.

The statue was exhibited at Liebfrauenberg on 10 June 2023 (15:00–18:00). The main body was severely damaged in the vandalism, so only the head could be shown — but its presence was no less powerful for it.

Like many Hongkongers forced to wander, Lady Liberty has been displaced. Yet wherever Hongkongers gather, that place becomes Hong Kong.
