Global Lady Liberty HK Unveiled in Frankfurt

Having met countless Hongkongers on her travels, the 2-metre Lady Liberty — created by a team of German students — has found her permanent home at Massif Central in Frankfurt.
The unveiling drew a diverse crowd: Hongkongers, German and European parliament members, and Taiwanese representatives, all coming to witness the statue and hear firsthand about the situation in Hong Kong under the National Security Law. In a Hong Kong where a sculpture, a song, or even a book can now be deemed threatening, our determination to hold ground overseas — and to ensure the world is not misled by attempts to paint a rosy picture of the city — remains unbroken.
Our deepest thanks to Hongkonger in Deutschland e.V. for their extraordinary efforts in transporting Lady Liberty to Germany; to Europa Union Frankfurt for organizing the programme; to Massif Central for providing the space; and to the student team behind HK's Global Lady Liberty, who first brought the international version of the statue to life in 2019.
Distinguished guests at the unveiling:
Mayor of Frankfurt, Secretary of State for European Affairs — Uwe Becker
European Parliament Member — Rares Bogdan
German Parliament Member — Kaweh Mansoori
Chairman of the German Green Party and Member of Parliament — Omid Nouripour
Director of the Taipei Representative Office in Frankfurt — Yeh-Shin Chu
Chairperson of the World Federation of Taiwanese Associations — Pey-Fen Fuh
And many others whose names we were unable to list here.
