Description

"Thank you, world, for letting us feel pain firsthand, teaching us endurance, showing us the resilience and courage our souls display under oppression. Thank you for teaching us to wait patiently—to wait for the rain to stop, for the night to pass, for the sun to shine upon us once more."

I hope Raincoat Child can soothe people's pain, even if its power is no greater than an aspirin tablet. Its creation exists simply to accompany everyone as we walk through life, together.

Judge's Comment

Raincoat Child is an outstanding sculpture, both moving and tender. The conceptual contrast is echoed in the homeopathic use of Alpine diagonal timber. With exquisite sensibility, the Raincoat Child draws viewers in through its tactile appeal, skillfully embodying the connection between compassion and community.
